Be a Better Skier
Do you want to become a better skier? Despite the lack of white fluffy stuff on the mountains this year, you could still be working on becoming a better skier by improving your stability and core strength off the mountain.
Inside the latest edition of ProView from the Canadian Ski Instructors’ Alliance is this article by Carl Petersen, physiotherapist, titled “Getting Fit 2 Ski – Stable Base, Better Skier”. The article is the first of a 3 part series of articles on core stability training for skiers. The article (direct link to pdf here) begins with a description of what the core is and its’ importance for skiers and then goes on to describe a collection of 9 different core exercises. The exercises are shown in accompanying photographs and utilize very little equipment, making them easy to incorporate into your daily routine.
